ICN Transfer Guide
Seoul Incheon International Airport · updated Oct 2026
TL;DR: most international-to-international transfers at ICN need no rechecking of bags and no Korean visa if you stay airside. Minimum realistic connection: 2 hours (T1↔T2 change: 3 hours).
Terminal 1 vs Terminal 2
Korean Air, Delta and SkyTeam use T2; most others (United, American, Asiana) use T1. Check your terminals before booking — a T1↔T2 transfer adds ~40–60 min via the free shuttle train.
Do I need to recheck bags?
On a single ticket with through-checked bags: no. On separate tickets, you must clear immigration, collect bags, and re-check — budget 3+ hours.
Transit hotel & rest
Walkerhill Transit Hotel (airside, T1) and the Matina lounges offer hourly rooms. Free showers exist in both terminals.
Visa
Staying airside: no visa needed for most nationalities. Entering Korea on a layover: many nationalities get visa-free entry; check current rules before counting on it.
